Senior Public Relations Major Esther Rea

Features story of senior Esther Rea, an overcomer and inspiration to many

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — Hard Work U. debuted its new podcast, “College of the Ozarks: Our Story,” last week when the first episode of season one dropped on Friday, Feb. 24. The podcast is designed to explore the stories of the College through the eyes of its people – students, staff, and faculty. The first episode featured junior public relations major Esther Rea and her personal journey.

“Esther’s story, and her journey, will inspire you,” said Public Relations Director Valorie Coleman, host of the podcast. “She talks about her own challenges, life with a big family, loss, grief, and the wins! During her time at COFO, she has found much hope, healing, and a chance to give back. You won't want to miss this!”

The podcast highlights the programs and people of College of the Ozarks and allows their stories to unfold.

“Many times, we become so focused on events that we don’t take time to tell the world the incredible stories of our students,” Coleman said. “They are my heroes. Since we are a work college, where students work rather than pay for their tuition, most exhibit financial need. Some come from extreme poverty. All are overcomers and come to this institution with a huge dream – a dream to better themselves, lead by example, and serve others. I hope their stories of overcoming will give hope and inspiration to many others, anyone aspiring to dream big.”

Rea has worked in the public relations office for 2 ½ years and knows the demands of a busy work college. She was excited for a new endeavor in the office and a chance to tell her story.

“I truly loved sharing my story and having the opportunity to be on the first episode of the College’s podcast,” Rea said. “It is an honor and privilege to attend College of the Ozarks and work in the public relations office on campus. I hope and pray God uses my story to encourage those who hear it and have possibly walked a similar road.”
