WAITLIST

WHY AM I ON THE WAITLIST?

Candidates are placed on the Waitlist due to lack of vacancies. The first candidates to be placed on the Waitlist are typically those who do not show as much financial need as others. Because the mission of the College serves students from the Ozarks region who demonstrate financial need and academic ability, candidates from within the region who show the most need are given priority on the Waitlist.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ON THE WAITLIST?

It means that you may meet our minimum academic requirements, but we are unable to admit you because there are currently no vacancies. Your name is on a list and if there is a vacancy for which you qualify, you will be contacted.

HOW DO YOU RANK THE WAITLIST?

The Waitlist is managed just as the admissions process is managed, and that is according to the mission of the College. Students from the Ozarks region with the most financial need are given priority on the Waitlist.

WHEN DO YOU RANK THE WAITLIST?

We will rank the Waitlist after the majority of the admissions decisions for the Fall semester are made, which is typically at the end of May. You may call on or after June 1 to learn your approximate position on the Waitlist.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I WILL BE CALLED FROM THE WAITLIST AND OFFERED ADMISSION?

Circumstances which create openings are beyond our control (students who decide not to return, students who cancel admission, etc.). If we are able to offer admission to a candidate on the Waitlist, it is done typically via phone, immediately after we learn of an opening. The latest a first-time student would be offered admission is the day before new student arrival.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS ON THE WAITLIST?

We advise you to have your “Plan B” in place. Because no one is guaranteed admission, it is wise to have an alternative in place when you begin the admissions process. We advise you to be familiar with the refund policies of your “Plan B” institution in the event we are able to offer you admission. Feel free to show your interest in the College! We don't mind answering your questions!

I'M ADMITTED FOR THE JANUARY TERM, AND ON THE FALL WAITLIST; WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF BEING MOVED TO THE FALL?

Again, circumstances which create openings are beyond our control (students who decide not to return, students who cancel admission, etc.). If we are able to offer admission to a candidate on the Waitlist it is done typically via phone, immediately after we learn of an opening. The latest a first-time student would be offered admission is the day before new student arrival.

HOW LONG CAN I BE ON THE WAITLIST?

We maintain the Waitlist on an academic-year basis. For example, if you are on the Waitlist for the 2024-25 academic year, you will remain on the Waitlist until the beginning of our January 2025 term. At that point, we purge the Waitlist, and if you are interested in seeking admission for another school year, you must reapply. Candidates DO NOT remain on the Waitlist indefinitely.
