Transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions with C- grades or above will be accepted by College of the Ozarks for incoming students provided they are not vocational or developmental. Additionally, credit is accepted from colleges accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Transfer courses with grades of D, F, and P will not be accepted.
Often potential students and accepted incoming students have questions about what classes they should take to transfer to C of O. To answer this question, we recommend you review the College’s required general education classes listed in our College Catalog as well as check for any specific general education classes required for the major the student is interested in pursuing. In general, freshman and sophomore level classes with the same number of credit hours and very similar names will transfer as equivalent. For example, College Algebra and Public Speaking will likely transfer to C of O as College Algebra and Public Speaking. You may use our Transfer Equivalency Guides showing equivalencies for some of our local colleges to get an idea of how courses are transferred. It is not an exhaustive list and we do not guarantee specific courses will transfer. Please, keep in mind major specific courses may be more likely to transfer as elective credit.
Additional information regarding transferring courses may be found in the Transferring Courses section of the College's current catalog. This information includes the following: transferring composition courses, School of the Ozarks credit, current students seeking approval to transfer courses, military credit, transfer credit time limitations, and transferring an Associate of Arts degree.
C of O will consider awarding transfer credit for courses completed with a C- or higher grade through a non-regionally accredited college or university provided they are not vocational or developmental. Students seeking transfer credit should have an official transcript showing final grades sent directly to the Registrar's Office following completion of their first semester at C of O. Once the official transcript arrives, the student should contact the Registrar's Office to communicate the exact courses he or she would like considered for evaluation. The Registrar's Office may request additional documentation at that time such as course descriptions, syllabi, and instructor credentials.
Veterans and active military are automatically awarded credit for PAT 103 Patriotic Education I and PED 101 Lifetime Wellness based on documented completion of basic training. Additionally, students are asked to request a copy of their military transcript be sent to the Registrar's Office for evaluation. College of the Ozarks awards credit for military training based on the recommendations of the American Council on Education.
C of O does award credit for College Level Examination Program (CLEP).
