Alumni Laundry

Position Title:

Laundry Worker

Required Schedule Flexibility

(1-5 scale with 5 as most flexible): 3

Job Description:

Alumni Laundry operates form 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and is a service department on campus.  The laundry receives staff, faculty, student, and all service department laundry.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Pick up and deliver all laundry on campus,
Tag clothes, mops, rags, then wash in machine and use dryers,
Press all sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, and napkins on the flat iron,
Press all shirts and pants on presses,
Check in and out all student laundry,
Take out trash daily,
Sweep floor, and mop back work area when necessary.

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

Sweep and mop floor in front area,
Vacuum rugs in front area,
Blow dirt and dust to one area and sweep it up in back work area,
Wipe down all counter and table tops,
Wipe down presses, washers, flat press and folder,
Clean and mop bathrooms,
Clean windows,
Clean van inside and out,
Assist other work departments as needed,
Any other task that may arise.

Basic Qualifications:

Dependable, prompt and faithful to work schedule,
Ability to team with others so all laundry goes out the same day.

Desirable Qualifications:

Pleasant customer service attitude,
Ability to work with a team spirit,
Flexible to work in all areas of laundry,
Ability to take initiative when there is something to do.

Learning Objectives:

The student will:
Develop good customer service skills by interacting with the campus family for laundry services,
Develop a good working knowledge of how to run and maintain a laundry facility,
Understand and apply principles of work ethics,
Understand and recognize the principle of working as a team to accomplish a common goal,
Learn time management, juggling class schedules and work,
Understand the importance of taking pride in your work, and putting forth the extra effort in order to be the best you can be.
