C of O Guest Artist Recital to feature Courtney Fletcher, Jacob Sentgeorge, and Mia Kim

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — On Thursday, Sept. 18, guest artists Courtney Fletcher, Jacob Sentgeorge, and Mia Kim will all perform in the Newman Recital Hall, located in the Gittinger Music Center at College of the Ozarks, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the College of the Ozarks 2025-2026 featured guest artists.

The concert is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mezzo-soprano Courtney Fletcher is a highly acclaimed performer and teacher, known for her “powerful” and “persuasive” voice. Recently, she was seen as Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena with Winter Opera St. Louis. She will return there this fall as Constance in their production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Sorcerer. Some awards include 3rd Place at the National NATS Artist Awards (2024), 1st place in the Artistic Division of the NOA Vocal Competition (2018), and 3rd Place in the Houston Saengerbund (2021).

She has performed with companies all over the United States, including Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Winter Opera St Louis, Opera Memphis, New World Symphony, Memphis Symphony, and the Boise Philharmonic. Dr. Fletcher made her international debut with Prague’s National Theatre Orchestra with Opernfest Prague. In 2022, she was selected as one of twelve young teachers across North America to participate in the NATS Intern Program.

Dr. Fletcher holds a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she was a student of Mary Ann Hart. She currently serves as assistant professor of voice at the University of Kansas, where she teaches courses in voice, diction, and opera.

Tenor Jacob Sentgeorge has delighted audiences as a soloist in a broad range of performances in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Italy. Baroque performances include Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium with Pro Musica Colorado, soloist with a Christmas Baroque concert with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, as well as many performances with the chamber ensemble Spire in Kansas City. Sentgeorge has given art song recitals in many states, and premiered several new works in addition to his own compositions for voice and electronics. In November 2019, at an international festival of electroacoustic performers/composers, he performed his longform composition titled "Brownshirts in the Hundred Acre Wood" at the 9th Annual Electroacoustic Barn Dance in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Sentgeorge holds a Doctor of Music Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he was a student of Mary Ann Hart and did his dissertation on the works of composer Charles Ives under the guidance of Dr. Peter Burkholder. He currently serves as professor of voice at the University of Central Missouri where he teaches courses in voice, diction, vocal literature, and has served as director for Opera Workshop and Musical Theatre productions.

Woman smiling Dr. Mia Kim serves as professor of piano at the University of Central Missouri.

Pianist Mia Kim made her professional debut with the Indianapolis Symphony at the age of 12. Performances across the U.S. have included appearances at Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall), the Chautauqua Music Festival, the Rocky Ridge Music Festival (Estes Park, Colorado), the Library of Congress Coolidge Recital Series (Washington, D.C.), the Dag Hammerskjold Library at the United Nations, and the Missouri River Festival of the Arts (Boonville). Much in demand as a collaborator, Kim has performed on National Public Radio's "Performance Today"; in recitals with violinists Scott Yoo, Chee-Yun, David Halen (concertmaster, St. Louis Symphony), Eric Halen (associate concertmaster, Houston Symphony tubist Sam Pilafian, and mezzo soprano Mary Ann Hart. She makes frequent appearances with members of the Kansas City Symphony in chamber music programs, and often serves as a keyboardist for that ensemble. International concert and teaching travels have taken her to Thessaloniki, Greece, and Granada, Spain.

Dr. Kim received her doctoral degree from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Nelita True. She holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she was a student of Menahem Pressler and Leonard Hokanson.

Deeply devoted to supporting the musical culture of her community, Dr. Kim served as the director of the Warrensburg Area Youth Symphony from 1997-2002, is a past state president of the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs, and is the founder and president of the Warrensburg Friends of Music. Dr. Kim currently serves as professor of piano at the University of Central Missouri.

These artists each bring talent and expertise to present to the College of the Ozarks on Sept. 18, 2025.
