The boys’ team places first overall in the MSHSAA District 5 Championship

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. —The School of the Ozarks track and field team delivered a successful performance at the Class 2 District 5 Championship meet on May 10 and followed with strong results at the MSHSAA State Championship May 23 – 24 at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City.

The team’s determination and hard work were on full display as the boys’ team placed first overall in the district championship meet while the girls’ team placed fourth. At the state Championship, multiple athletes qualified and several set new school records.

Since School of the Ozarks reopened in 2012, the S of O boys’ and girls’ track and field teams have won a combined 15 district championships and six-runner up finishes.

This year’s S of O girls’ track and field team was composed mainly of sophomores and juniors and set multiple school records this season.

“It is an honor to be the coach of such a hard-working and determined team,” said Dr. Justin Carswell, head coach of S of O track and field team. “The team’s collective dedication and support for each other is what helped them earn the district championship title, and for that, I am proud of them.”

Students competed in a wide range of events at both district and state levels, contributing to overall team success.

The Patriots track and field program qualified multiple athletes for the MSHSAA Girls Class 1 and Boys Class 2 State Championships.

Ella Howard places fifth in the 3,200 Meter Run in the MSHSAA Track and Field State Championship.
