First time for Saturday event

College of the Ozarks will host its 35th annual Honor America Celebration on the College campus Saturday, June 29.

This marks the first year for the event to be held on Saturday, instead of the last Sunday in June, and hopefully will allow more guests to enjoy this celebration of our nation.

The public is invited to attend this free event and may bring blankets and lawn chairs for a picnic on the grounds. The fireworks display will take place at sunset.

Schedule of events

6 p.m.  — Festivities Begin

  • Food will be available from Chick-fil-A, London Calling, The Deck Pizza Company, and Kilwins. Food service closes promptly at 8:30 p.m. for the patriotic program.
  • Children’s activities will include face painting, bounce houses, basketball, and a craft area where guests can make thank-you cards for Veterans. The College will display a Missouri Army National Guard (MOARNG) UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter in the children’s area, as well, for all to see and explore.
  • Musical acts take the stage and feature some of the area’s best acts. Featured entertainment will include the music of The Hunt Family Band, and the 135th Army Bands – The Big Band and Aftershock.
