Kim Brecklein won the First Place Award with an oil painting, “Fiddler Girl,” in last year’s White River Painting Exhibit in Edwards Art Gallery at College of the Ozarks. The Ralph Foster Museum is accepting entries for this year’s exhibit through Nov. 6, 2019.

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks invites artists throughout the area to submit paintings for the annual White River Painting Exhibit that will take place Nov. 11 – Dec. 13, 2019, in Edwards Art Gallery at the Ralph Foster Museum at the College.  

Paintings representing the Ozarks Region completed within the past two years may be submitted in most any painting medium, with the exception of digital paintings.

The paintings submitted cannot be the product of a painting workshop and cannot have been exhibited in a previous White River Painting Exhibit. The Ralph Foster Museum requires painting submissions to either have finished edges or be framed for hanging (no sawtooth hangers – wire hangers only). 

Deadline for submission is Nov. 6.

The juror for the 2019 White River Painting Show is Anlon O’Brien. O’Brien is a painter and multimedia artist living and working in the Branson region. At 16, O’Brien was a scholarship recipient for Kansas City Art Institute’s weekend arts program. She then went on to study fine art at the University of Missouri-Columbia before completing her B.A. in visual art from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, with an emphasis in painting.

Upon graduation, O’Brien was employed by internationally acclaimed artist and instructor Jean Van Harlingen, assisting with grant writing, conducting handmade paper workshops, and curating artwork for exhibition. Since then, she has spent over 20 years as a working artist in acrylics, oils, fibers, and jewelry making. She further worked in illustration, product design, and as a makeup artist for festivals, events, and film.

O’Brien’s work has been featured as cover art and illustrations for newspapers, magazines, and books. She has exhibited at multiple art venues in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Maine. Her work is represented in both corporate and private collections.
