Best in Show Winner, “Three Sisters,” oil painting by Brian Roe

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — Winners for the White River Painting Exhibit have been announced, and the artwork is currently on exhibit through Dec. 13 in the Edwards Art Gallery at the Ralph Foster Museum at College of the Ozarks.

Artists from the Ozarks were invited to submit paintings for the annual exhibit.

The winners are as follows:

• Best in Show: “Three Sisters,” oil painting by Brian Roe of Harrison, Arkansas
• Second Place: “Lakeview No. 6,” frozen watercolor and gold leaf painting by Donna Gillispie of Kimberling City, Missouri
• Third Place: “The Fiddler,” acrylic painting by Betty Johnson of Eureka Springs, Arkansas
• Honorable Mentions: “Retirement,” oil painting by Laurie E. Tietjen of Ozark, Missouri, and “Ro Ho,” oil painting by Dee Giles of Rogersville, Missouri

With 32 paintings submitted this year, the annual event pays tribute to the extraordinary Ozarks heritage and expresses the museum’s continued mission of providing rich learning experiences about Ozarks culture through the arts.

Anlon O’Brien served as this year’s juror. O’Brien lives and works in the Branson region as a painter and multimedia artist. She has spent over 20 years as a working artist in acrylics, oils, fibers, and jewelry making. She further worked in illustration, product design, and as a makeup artist for festivals, events, and film. O’Brien’s work has been featured as cover art and illustrations for newspapers, magazines, and books. She has exhibited at multiple art venues in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Maine. Her work is represented in both corporate and private collections.
