Nutrition and Dietetics

Position Title:

Nutrition and Dietetics Student Worker

Required Schedule Flexibility

(1-5 scale with 5 as most flexible): 3

Job Description:

The building hours are 9 am - 5:30 pm.  Work schedules will be developed around class schedules.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Assist instructors, assist Student Dietetics Association (SDA) with: events, projects, and meetings, make copies, answer phones, and deliver and retrieve mail,
Protect student information as defined by FERPA,
Clean: sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, wash dishes, take out trash, clean bathrooms and classrooms,
Organize: kitchens, shopping for food classes, and lab setup and support,
Help students find research in the library, in the building and online,
Design bulletin boards,
Work safely and efficiently.

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

Serve as a resource for those in the building,
Grade tests and assignments,
Run errands on campus,
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Nutrition and Dietetics major or Nutrition minor,
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (furniture, bulk food items and equipment),
Must be able to bend and move for long periods of time.

Desirable Qualifications:

Friendly, willing to learn,
Familiar with a wide variety of food preparations and service equipment,
Familiar with food, cooking, service, and cleanup,
Knowledge of proper cooking temperatures and food safety,
Knowledge of cleaning tasks such as: sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, windows, cleaning restrooms, etc.,
Ability to work individually and together as a team,
Ability to complete duties with little direct supervision,
Problem solving,
Ability to problem solve to develop and implement continuous, quality improvements,
Time and task management,
Computer and office skills.
