Transportation

Position Title:

Transportation Student Worker

Required Schedule Flexibility

(1-5 scale with 5 as most flexible): 3

Job Description:

Transportation operates 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The Transportation Department takes care of all campus vehicles and road vehicles belonging to the College. Transportation is in charge of setting up for special events and assisting in various projects that require labor support.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Move furniture for various departments,
Move pianos, organs, and other
Wash and clean College vehicles,
Lubricate, change the oil, and check all fluid levels of vehicles,
Assist staff mechanics in minor or major repairs on campus vehicles and other motorized equipment (tillers, mowers, etc.),
Assist other departments on campus in various ways, including, but not limited to:

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

Transport, twice weekly, students to and from Wal-Mart,
Occasional weekend events, on campus, requiring several students,
Provide labor wherever needed on campus, when there is something to load, unload, or transport from one place to another.

Basic Qualifications:

Must be able to lift reasonably heavy objects,
Must have a valid driver's license and pass drivers safety course.

Desirable Qualifications:

Have an understanding or moderate mechanical knowledge,
Must have a pleasant demeanor and some computer skills,
Must display respect for College vehicles and property.

Learning Objectives:

The student will:
Learn to interact with students and faculty,
Learn the proper way to lift and move heavy objects,
Learn minor vehicle maintenance,
Learn to clean and properly maintain vehicles,
Learn to repair flat tires and work the tire equipment.
