Job Description:
The production pottery assistants work in the Art Department Clay Studio. They maintain the facilities, assist with the academic classes in the Art Annex when needed, and produce pottery for the Keeter Center Gift Shop.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Maintain the Art Annex: clean and organize the studios,
Maintain the equipment: shop and clay studios,
Produce pottery for the Keeter Center Gift Shop.
Secondary duties and responsibilities:
Assist with the art classes in the Annex as needed,
Maintain the outdoor kilns.
Basic Qualifications:
Ideally, students should have taken a clay class and be knowledgeable in pottery methods,
Ability to be self-motivated and work without constant supervision,
Students should be comfortable around clay studio, shop tools and equipment.
Desirable Qualifications:
Students need to be physically fit and be able to lift 50 lbs,
Basic knowledge of art.
Additional Remarks
This work station will be treated like an apprenticeship. Motivated students will gain valuable knowledge in art studio procedures and will learn all aspects involved in studio operation and pottery production.
