Admissions Representative

College of the Ozarks invites applications for a full-time admissions representative. A bachelor's degree is required. The starting date is January 2. Responsibilities include but are not limited to representing the College at college fairs and high school visits (overnight travel required), interviewing prospective students, assisting with the coordination and planning of annual recruiting events, admitted student events, and other duties as needed. This is a ten-month position: August 1-May 31). This position reports to the Director of Admissions Operations.

The successful candidate must embrace the College's Christ-centered mission and vision. Other essential qualities for this position include strong organizational, writing, and communication skills. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and enjoy marketing and creativity. The admissions representative serves prospective students by helping them navigate the application process and high school counselors by sharing information about the College.

Admissions representatives gain valuable experience in outreach, interpersonal and professional communication, networking, and sharing the C of O opportunity with prospective students and families. The admissions department reports to the Vice President for Vocational Activities and Dean of Admissions, who also oversees the work education program, financial aid, career development, and alumni affairs. This group of student service professionals is a great team that values student development and success.

Admissions Manager

The admissions manager must be a living example of Hard Work U and be committed to the College. This exciting and complex position focuses on three core skill sets: admissions management, administrative assistance, and student work supervision. The successful candidate enjoys challenges and the thrill of consistently striving for improvement in delivering services to prospective students and their families. The person who fills this important role will have the privilege of managing the process that helps prospective students navigate the application process while positively impacting lives. A bachelor’s degree, at minimum, is required. 

Managing

The admissions manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the admissions office, including but not limited to scheduling, operating admissions software and imaging technology, multiple aspects of customer service, and efficiently processing all admissions decisions and acceptance information. Important matters the admissions manager oversees include, but are not limited to, processing decisions regarding admission, purchasing, budgeting, and creative marketing.

Assisting

This position reports and serves as an assistant to the Dean of Admissions (who is also the Vice President of Vocational Activities-VPVA). The VPVA, in addition to admissions, oversees vocational activities, financial aid, alumni affairs, and the career center. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling, corresponding, and communicating for and on behalf of the VPVA.                            

Supervising

This position also serves as a work supervisor for at least twelve student workers; therefore, the person who fills it must have an innate ability to interact and communicate with college students. The work supervisor must be able to set high expectations for student workers and hold them accountable while also striking the appropriate balance of compassion and understanding of their unique needs as college students. Essential matters include, but are not limited to, student development, making decisions about student work scheduling, work instruction, training, and accountability.

Additionally, the successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and outstanding organizational skills, be involved in the campus community, and participate in college activities. Annually, the admissions office processes nearly 4,000 applications and thousands of inquiries and conducts hundreds of prospective student tours. The office is staffed by the director of admissions operations, the admissions manager, three admissions representatives who travel, and twelve student workers. The admissions office uses Jenzabar, Perceptive Content imaging software, and the Microsoft Office suite.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer/Vice President for Finance and Administration, this position provides leadership, strategic planning, direction, and oversight for all human resources functions, including day-to-day oversight for organizational development and institutional human resources policies and strategies.

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree in Human Resource Management or applicable field (master’s degree preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of related experience in human resources and/or payroll, including at least four years of supervisory experience.

  • SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP

The public safety department provides 24/7 coverage, which often requires working, holidays, and varied shifts. Biology Faculty Position

College of the Ozarks invites applications for a full-time teaching position in its biology department. The primary responsibilities for this position will include classroom and laboratory instruction for upper-level human physiology and general biology for majors. The successful candidate may also teach additional courses in immunology, embryology or other courses related to their field of expertise. Most biology majors are pre-professional students in health-related fields (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-PA, etc.) or students seeking admission to biology graduate programs. A Ph.D. in biology or a terminal degree in a related field is preferred. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; may lead to a multi-year letter of appointment.

Non-teaching responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, advising students, supervising student workers in the biology department, participating in semiannual faculty workshops, serving on campus committees, and attending monthly division meetings.
