By: Moriah Isringhausen
The Boger Gallery will present “Touch, Anoint, Heal: God with Us” from October 28–December 1. The exhibition, which will travel across North America for the next two years, features works by prominent artists of faith and is presented by the organization, Christians in the Visual Arts [CIVA]. Artwork for the exhibition was selected by Richard Cummings, associate professor of art at College of the Ozarks.
Works in the exhibition include pieces by renowned artists such as Bruce Herman, Ed Knippers and Sandra Bowden. The exhibition also includes work by Evangel University Professor Michael Buesking.
The exhibit features a wide variety of media, as each piece was meticulously selected around the theme of touch, anoint and heal. “The works selected for the exhibition portray both the embodiment and relationship between the perceptive experience of the human senses and the reality of God’s continued, revealed presence in creation,” said Richard Cummings.
The purpose of the exhibit on one hand is to provide a place to enter the story of the artists’ experience of the divine. Visitors to the exhibit, however, may just find themselves having an experience of their own as they see the stories, imagery and materials.
Cummings will present a lecture to accompany the opening of the exhibit at 7 p.m. on October 29. The lecture will take place in the Newman Recital Hall of the Gittinger Music Center at College of the Ozarks. An opening reception will follow in Boger Gallery. All events are free and open to the public. Call 417-690-2255 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
