Uchtman Leads Lady 'Cats in Another Big Win
The College of the Ozarks Lady ‘Cats took to the court with determination on Friday afternoon in Round 2 of the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa, where they defeated Mayville State by a score of 92-87. While Mayville opened the game scoring the first 4 points, a three-point basket drained by Alice Heinzler brought the Lady’ Cats right back into the game. The two teams remained close throughout the first half, with C of O taking a two-point lead into the locker room at the half thanks to a three-point shot by Jeana Raper with 4 seconds remaining.
College of the Ozarks came out strong in the second half, building their lead by as many as 11 points by the 10:23 mark. Mayville State did not give in, but rather went on a run and over the next seven minutes and took the lead with 4 minutes remaining, growing it to 5 at the 2:30 mark. The Lady’ Cats finished with spunk, however, and took the game to OT, again on a 3-pointer by Raper.
