President, Lindon Newberry, opened the meeting at 11:00 a.m. in the Plaster School of Business Room 211.  Mr. Newberry welcomed all attendees and submitted the minutes from the 2007 meeting for approval. Motion was made and seconded with the minutes approved as printed. The Treasurer’s report was presented and showed a fund balance of $3,200.71. There was no unfinished business.

In new business, nominations for secretary/treasurer were accepted. Cheryl Williams was nominated and elected by acclamation. The officers for 2008-2009 are Kevin Riley, President; Robert Wheeler, Vice President; and Cheryl Williams, Secretary/Treasurer.

Mr. Riley updated those attending on the activities and accomplishments of the Business Undergraduates Society (BUS/PBL), Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) and the recent addition of the Sigma Beta Delta international honor
society for students who have a major in Business Administration or Accounting. The Beulah I Winfrey Alumni Chapter approved funding of up to $500.00 to be used for student travel by the business clubs and organizations in this academic year.

Everyone present was encouraged to provide membership information to other business and accounting alumni from College (School) of the Ozarks. Discussion was held on ways to increase membership in the business alumni group and included a suggestion about utilizing Facebook and other social networking sites to increase awareness of the group.  Consideration of recognizing former and current faculty members was also discussed.  There was concern about how many alumni are notified of the annual meetings and a special notice will be requested for the Alumni News for next year’s Homecoming activities. Special recognition was given to Jeff Shipley (class of 98) for speaking to a variety of business classes the Friday before Homecoming.

A list of current members can be seen at the Colleges Website (www.cofo.edu) and linking to Alumni and specifically Business Alumni.   Annual dues for our Alumni Chapter are $10.00.  Lifetime membership is available for a one-time contribution of $200.00.  Anyone can submit an application to join this chapter on-line.
