The College of the Ozarks' Teacher Education program is accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students who complete an approved program of study will be eligible for teacher certification through the state of Missouri.

Elementary & Secondary Education Degree Programs
College of the Ozarks offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. Major fields of study include education in elementary (grades 1-6) with the option of middle school or early childhood add-on, and secondary education (grades 9-12 and K-12), also with optional middle school add-on in certain fields.

College of the Ozarks students who completed the professional education programs for teacher certification had a 100% pass rate on the prescribed state licensure tests for 2014-2015. The College's Title II Report Card is available for review by request at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Student Missouri State Teachers Association
The Student Missouri State Teachers Association (S-MSTA) is open to all Elementary and Secondary Education majors and serves as a bridge to your teaching career. It connects you to other education majors at the college and around the state, provides an opportunity for you to network with professional educators, and helps you prepare for a career in education. The group usually meets once per month, and a schedule of meeting dates and times can be obtained from the Education Department. Meetings include guest speakers from the education field, community service projects, and involvement in campus activities such as homecoming. Education faculty serve as the sponsors for S-MSTA and encourage all education majors to actively participate in this professional organization.
Kappa Delta Pi
Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education (KDP) is committed to recognizing excellence and fostering mutual cooperation, support, and professional growth for educational professionals. KDP meets jointly with S-MSTA to encourage professional growth and is also involved in service projects and campus activities. Membership in Kappa Delta Pi is by invitation only to education majors who have completed 50+ hours and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.25. If you meet the qualifications for KDP and have not received an invitation to join, please contact the Education Department at 417-690-2150. Mr. Knight and Ms. Simmons are the co-sponsors for KDP and look forward to your involvement.
