A dynamic and exciting squad, the College of the Ozarks volleyball team is ready to climb up the rankings in the MCAC Conference. The Bobcats have a nice blend of experience and youth as they return ten letter winners, welcome three first year players and one transfer who will fit into the Bobcats style of play nicely.
The 2009 Volleyball line up will include three returning seniors: Jennifer Nichols, Daryl Knetzer and Erin Mitchem; two returning juniors, Holly Davidson, Megan James and newcomer transfer from College of Saint Mary, Veronica Barrientos, who will all bring experience and leadership to the team. Sophomore setter Paige Flowers will be making her presence known this year as she steps into her new role this season. Nichols, Davidson and newcomer Barrientos will play a tremendous role in the front row along with freshman newcomers Tessa Peterson and Shana Ramsey.
Leading the defense are the extremely talented “defensive specialists,” Brittney Day, Daryl Knetzer and Jennifer Miller. Other contributing players who will bring depth and athleticism are Brittany Stone, Karissa Hassell and freshman newcomer Hayley Blair.
Last year, the Lady Bobcats wrapped the season with a 29-8 record and many honors. With a roster as strong and experienced as this year’s Lady Bobcat Volleyball team, the team expects another exciting season.
