Dr. Stephen Bell, assistant professor of sociology, received “The Eugene Charles Wittick Teaching Excellence Award” at the 105th Commencement held at College of the Ozarks on May 13.
“Dr. Bell demonstrates outstanding teaching ability and has major impact on the lives and careers of all students,” said Dean of the College Dr. Eric Bolger. “He exemplifies the College’s mission through his hard work and servant leadership, always with a positive attitude.”
“The Eugene Charles Wittick Teaching Excellence Award” honors professors who have demonstrated outstanding teaching ability and had a significant impact on the lives and careers of their students.
Dr. Bell has taught full-time at the College since 2006. He teaches multiple sections of the introductory sociology as well as courses for students majoring in sociology. Bell also sponsors the sociology club on campus.
“Evidence of his teaching excellence is demonstrated in the significant growth in the number of students pursuing majors or minors in sociology and joining the sociology club. Students frequently comment on Dr. Bell’s passion, enthusiasm, and skill in connecting sociological theory with real life,” said Dean Bolger. “His intentional effort to integrate Christian faith with learning in the behavioral science field provides a valuable model for both students and faculty. Dr. Bell provides inspiring teaching and Godly influence in the lives of students.”
