American Spirit Dance Company from Oklahoma City University will perform at College of the Ozarks on Wednesday, April 18, and 19, 2012, at 7 p.m., in Jones Auditorium.

The American Spirit Dance Company was started by Jo Rowan, who began the Dance Company for the purposes of celebrating America's unique contributions to dance through jazz, tap and musical theater. The company provides students with professional performance opportunities.

Since 1981, the company has inspired audiences with pride in American dance. The American Spirit is critically acclaimed and has become one of the premiere performing ensembles in central Oklahoma.

“The American Spirit Dance Company is one of the finest and most respected university-based dance companies in the nation,” says Lisa Young, associate professor of theatre and former member of the American Spirit Dance Company. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and the community to see some of the finest trained dancers and experience a Broadway-style dance performance.”

C of O students receive priority seating; any remaining seats are open to the public free of charge. For further information, please contact Lisa Young, at (417) 690-2330 or
