SUBJECT: COLLEGE INSPIRES STUDENT TO JOIN ROTC

By: Haley Jones

Kenneth White signing with Army ROTCOn October 31, 2012, sophomore Kenneth White signed with the Army ROTC to become a commissioned officer in the United States Army upon graduation from College of the Ozarks.

White currently serves in the Army National Guard and has been involved with the ROTC program at College of the Ozarks. “I don’t think I ever really saw it as a possibility before I got here,” White said. “There was a point when I realized that it is right for me.” White hopes to pursue a pilot’s license while in the Army.

Present for the signing was MAJ Doug Schenck, U.S. Army (Ret.). “The fact that Kenneth White and other young men and women want to serve their country speaks volumes about their character and also about their heritage and our country,” Schenck said. “Where these fantastic young men and women come from is the salt of the earth, and we are fortunate to have great Americans right here at College of the Ozarks.”
