POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozark welcomed bike riders and community members participating in The Home of the Brave Festival Memorial Ride to Patriots Park.
On Saturday, August 26, 2017, approximately 25 bike riders and community members, many of them Vietnam Veterans, traveled from Springfield, Missouri, to College of the Ozarks during a Memorial Ride for the event.
The Kitchen is once again partnering with American Legion Post 639 to host the fourth annual Home of the Brave Festival to benefit the Home at Last program. Funds raised from the event are used to continue helping local homeless and at-risk Veterans along with their families get the resources they need and find places to call home.
The Kitchen’s mission is to prevent and end homelessness in the communities we serve by providing housing and stabilizing services with dignity and compassion.
At the College, the group visited Patriots Park to hold a prayer service at The Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
“The College was excited to welcome these bikers and community members, especially Veterans, to Patriots Parks, which includes The Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial,” said Valorie Coleman, public relations director. “The patriotic goal of the College is to encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country, and willingness to defend it. This was a great opportunity for the College to show our gratefulness to our Veterans.”
