SUBJECT: PARTICIPATE IN 5K AND 10K FUN RUN AND HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TRACKCHAIR FOR A MISSOURI VETERAN
By: Matt Fender
School of the Ozarks students will host a 5k and 10K FUN RUN as part of a “Pitch in for Patriots” club project on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. Participants may check in for the FUN RUN beginning at 7:30 a.m., at the Howell W. Keeter Athletic Complex.
Proceeds raised from the event will go toward purchasing a TrackChair for a disabled Missouri Veteran. The TrackChair differs from a wheel chair, because it acts as an all-terrain vehicle. This allows those in wheel chairs to enjoy actives such as hunting, fishing and exploring hiking trails.
“I’m proud to be a part of this fundraiser,” said S of O senior Kendall Evans. “Raising funds for Veterans is something I can be excited about.”
School of the Ozarks students founded the “Pitch in for Patriots” club in order to make a positive difference in the lives of Veterans. This is the club’s second project, and the students hope that more schools across the country will offer students the opportunity to have a “Pitch in for Patriots” club.
The cost of registration is $30 online or $35 on the day of the event. From experienced runners to walkers, all are encouraged to participate.
