By: Morgan Sowell
On Wednesday, October 3, C of O, sophomore Mitchel Clark and sophomore Caleb Green signed contracts with the Army ROTC to become commissioned officers in the United States Army upon graduation from College of the Ozarks.
Green, the fourth generation of his family to enlist in the military, currently serves in the Army National Guard. “I am honored with the opportunity to protect the country that I love,” said Green. He intends to pursue his pilot license in the Army.
Clark, too, was inspired by his grandfather’s service in the Marines. “I joined the Army ROTC to become a better person, as well as to learn leadership skills and the opportunity to fight for my country,” he said. Clark also serves in the Army National Guard and desires to one day lead infantry troops.
Present for the signing was MAJ Doug Schenck, U.S. Army (Ret.), and C of O Alumna Mirna (Perches) Johnston. “It[ joining the ROTC Program] is a significant event and commitment that these young men have made,” said Schenck.
