SUBJECT: JONES THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS THE ENTERTAINING CIRQUE DE VARIETE

By: Matt Fender

College of the Ozarks Theatre Department will present Cirque de Variete on April 28 and 29, at 7:30 p.m., in the Jones auditorium. Cirque is an annual production that allows students with a variety of talents to perform for their fellow students and the public while gaining valuable art and entertainment experience.

Different from all past performances, the 2014 Cirque will incorporate more people and feature various solo and duet performances. Students enrolled in classes such as stagecraft and lighting design work to fill multiple roles in preparation for Cirque.

“Not only is Cirque an entertaining and family-friendly variety show, it is personal because it is created and performed by students for students,” said Cirque student choreographer Matthew Matney. “By far, it is my favorite of the productions we do on campus, because it is a learning tool for theatre students and all involved.”

Students will be allowed priority seating for the student-prepared event; remaining seats will be available to the public free of charge. For more information, contact the Theatre Department at (417) 690-2466.
