By: Nathan Brown
C of O junior Lydia Richardson, completed the U.S. Army ROTC Leadership Training Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on July 12, 2013. Richardson is now eligible to contract with Army ROTC and become an officer upon her graduation from College of the Ozarks.
“When she [Richardson] first asked about C of O’s Army Officer Training program, I immediately recognized that she would make an exceptional officer,” said Major (Ret) Doug Schenck, Recruiting Operations Officer for Army ROTC. “Her evaluators identified what I already knew and observed – that she is a dynamic leader who will excel.”
Richardson is majoring in Criminal Justice at College of the Ozarks and currently lives in Halltown, Mo., with her family. With extensive family ties to the military, Richardson showed an interest in Army ROTC from the beginning. “When I first came to C of O I had considered contracting with the ROTC program but chose not to,” said Richardson. “As my senior year approached, everything started falling into place and I believe this is what God wants me to do.”
