Hey everybody. My name is Seth, and I’m a senior at College of the Ozarks. C of O has given me several opportunities for growth that I could not have experienced anywhere else. First, the college has given me the chance to attend school and not pay for tuition. It would be extremely difficult to pay for tuition at nearly any other institution due to my family’s financial situation. We don’t have the financial means to pay for college, and my dad even has to work construction jobs on the side just to pay bills and get by. The fact that tuition is paid for through work is a great tool for my future. My on campus jobs have taught me several skills that employers look for, giving me a jump start in the work world as well as providing me with a wider variety of work experience.
The greatest blessing I have received from attending C of O is not financial, but spiritual. I have had so many friends that have helped bring me closer to God through bible studies, late night talks, and just being there when I needed someone. The school has given me a chance to personally and spiritually grow on my own and find MY faith instead of my parents’ faith. Looking back at my first semester, it’s incredibly amazing how far I have come from that first day of classes. At times I wonder what would have happened if I had stayed home and gone to school there, and every time I am always thankful for the extraordinary opportunity to attend at such a fulfilling school. It’s been great letting you know about life at C of O…but, I’ve got to head to work. I’m doing a 40-hour work week! |
