2010 Baseball Bobcat Outlook
The 2010 Bobcat baseball team will again be a youthful group with 22 freshman and sophomores on the roster. The experience gained by many of these players, however, should prove to be valuable as the Bobcats attack the 2010 season. There are 8 veteran juniors and seniors for the young players to follow on the roster and they will be counted on to lead the Bobcats to a successful season.
Pitching
The 2010 staff returns 6 pitchers with considerable experience. Returning pitchers include only one Senior - Brock Shamel - and two juniors - Brian Decker and Patrick Matson. Also returning is sophomores Dustin Loggins, Dustin Forrest, Willy Hoey and Redshirt freshmen Brad Allen and Colby Arnold. Joining the staff will be junior transfer Collin Edwards (Coffeyville C.C.) and sophomore transfer Landon Widhalm (Jefferson County C.C.) Also competing for mound time will be freshmen Joel Harrington (Springfield Catholic), Dustin Ewers (Iberia) and Dalton Hunter (Dora).
Catching
The Bobcats receiving corps is anchored by junior Trent Oxenreider. Joining Oxenreider will be senior Justin Harwell, sophomore transfer Jordan Wright (Evangel) and incoming freshman Seth Phegley (West Plains).
Infield
Returning Bobcats on the infield are sophomores Nick Lechner, Denton Wolf, Daniel Oxenreider and Mark Freed. Competing for a spot on the infield will be three transfers and one freshman. They are junior Nate Booker (Three Rivers C.C.), sophomores Josh Maynard (Three Rivers C.C.), Derek Harwell (Drury) and freshman Byron Richardson (Forsyth).
Outfield
The Bobcats outfield returners include senior Ben York and sophomores Tyler Hartley and Aaron Anderson. Two freshmen, Mikey Jennings (Lebanon) and Brady Renner (West Aurora, IL) will compete for playing time as well.
