MoGEA TESTING

What is it? MoGEA (Missouri General Education Assessment) is an online exam required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that evaluates the knowledge and reasoning skills of teacher candidates in five subject areas: English Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences. Minimum passing scores for this exam are currently being established by the State Board of Education. Until the State Board of Education sets the scores, College of the Ozarks has set the following minimum score requirements:  English Language Arts - 214; Writing - 220; Mathematics - 183; Science - 202; Social Sciences - 195.

Passing scores on the MoGEA, combined with a 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA is required prior to admission to the College's Teacher Education Program.

When is it offered? The MoGEA exam is scheduled at College of the Ozarks' McKibben Center on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, January 29, 2014 - 4:30 pm
  • Wednesday, February 19, 2014 - 4:30 pm
  • Wednesday, March 19, 2014 - 4:30 pm

How do I register? All registration will take place online at http://www.mo.nesinc.com/. The full test is $49 and single test sections are $25 each. A test sitting fee is assessed for all non-College of the Ozarks students; this fee is paid at the testing site.

PRAXIS TESTING

What is it? The Praxis II Specialty Area Subject exams are designed to test a student’s knowledge in his/her subject area (exit exam). Each College of the Ozarks’ Education Major must pass the Praxis II Specialty Area Subject Exam in their major area to be eligible for student teaching through College of the Ozarks and also to be eligible for Missouri teacher certification. Students are encouraged to take the Praxis exam the semester prior to their student teaching experience.

When is it offered? Praxis II exams will be offered at College of the Ozarks on the following dates:

  • Saturday, March 8, 2014 - 7:30 am

How do I register?
Registration for the Praxis exam is completed online at least one month in advance of the test date at www.ets.org/praxis.

Note:  Beginning Fall of 2014, this exam will be replaced with a new online content assessment which examinees may still take at College of the Ozarks' McKibben Center.
