SUBJECT: COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS HOSTS VETERANS DAY ACTIVITIES

            On Wednesday, November 11, 2009, College of the Ozarks will honor Veterans with a sunrise wreath-laying ceremony at the main flagpole next to the Lyons Memorial Library at 7 a.m. A Veterans Day convocation will be held at 7 p.m., in the Williams Memorial Chapel later that day.

College of the Ozarks ROTC cadet James Goodgion will speak at the sunrise service. The ceremony will begin with a cannon report followed by the honoring of the flag, wreath placement, a 21-gun salute and “Taps.”

           Captain Randy Summerhill, a C of O alumnus, will speak in Williams Memorial Chapel at 7 p. m. as part of the Veterans Day convocation. The event will honor Veterans through ceremony, commentary and special music provided by the College of the Ozarks Concert Band directed by Dr. Bruce Gerlach.

           The Veterans Day events are free and open to the public.  For more information, contact the Military Science Department at (417)-690-2294.
